Welcome to 2012.
The year has started well and truly. This term we have been busy swimming and learning about water safety through Beach Education and in our classes. Waipara School has been fortunate enough to have two weeks of lessons provided by Wai Swim. These lessons consolidated what we have been learning through our Swim Safe programme at school. Later this month we will be going to Dudley swimming pool to have another type of swimming experience in a deep water pool. This is all great for developing our swimming skills and keeping safe in water.

Our whole school topic, this term and next, is Change with the context for our learning being The Rocky Shore. It is science based(Living World) and will mean investigating what animals and plants live at the rocky shore.

So soon we will have these experiences to share with you on the wiki.
Remember also that we all have the opportunity this year of signing in at home on Matheletics. We have many people in Room 3 who have obtained Bronze certificates for their work in Statistics and Addition and Subtraction.

2011 Highlights:

Antarctica;

We learnt about Antarctica. Our big understanding about this topic was Innovations. We are learning about the characteristics of Antarctica, the challenges about living in a harsh environment and how these challenges can be overcome or managed.

Have a glance at this movie to get you into the feel of the Antarctic environment.

Enjoy a movie of a retelling of Maui and the Sun by Dolphins reading group.

Also we have a movie to view on Room 3 Ice cream making. Ice cream making was integrated into our theme of Make and Do and Instructions.
